Christopher
Harris was back in Logan County Circuit
Court Tuesday afternoon, but only for a
minute. |
Under
tight security throughout the building,
Harris was led in and seated at 3:40 p.m.
Public Defender Patrick Timoney asked that a
preliminary hearing date be set, and Judge
Thomas M. Harris Jr. placed the hearing on
the docket for Oct. 28 at 1:15 p.m. And that
was the extent of the hearing.
In court were 30 of
Harris' family and friends. The family
refused to speak with reporters in regard to
the case. When Harris was led out of the
courtroom, the doors leading out of the
courtroom were blocked by law enforcement
officials until Harris had cleared the area.
On Friday, Harris was
charged with five counts of first-degree
murder and one count of attempted murder in
the slayings of the Gee family in Beason. He
was being held without bail at the McLean
County jail. When Logan County Sheriff Steve
Nichols was asked if Harris was being
transported back to McLean County, he
declined to answer.
