Home Tour Offers Decor Ideas
- Decorating the home for the Christmas
holiday can be tough. Fresh ideas may
be hard to come by, and resources can be
limited. However, ideas sure to
impress holiday guests can be found in
abundance at the Mount Pulaski Tour of
Homes, which will be held from
4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 8
at four homes and one church at this year’s
event.
Tickets available at Salt Creek Attic. Proceeds for this year’s tour
will benefit the Mount Pulaski Courthouse Foundation whose goal
is to repair and maintain the courthouse.

Bertoni and Fred Lipp, Fred Lipp of Mt. Pulaski, retired high
school industrial arts teacher, professional cabinet maker and
antique gun and rifle owner, was recently a guest speaker at the
monthly meeting of the Mt. Pulaski Township Historical Society. He
did a “show and tell” of his family’s 1915 Ford Model T, which his
grandfather Albert Lipp, had purchased brand new from a Mt. Pulaski
Ford Dealer.

Bertoni, At last Monday’s monthly meeting of the Logan County
Genealogical and Historical Society, guest speaker Leigh Morris
(Cass County & Beardstown local historian and author), re-visited
the famous 1857 “Almanac Trial” that was held in the Beardstown
Courthouse featuring defense lawyer Abraham Lincoln. William “Duff”
Armstrong had been charged along with his friend, James Norris, in
the murder of James Preston Metzker in an outside altercation around
11:00 pm on the night of August 29, 1857 – all three being reported
to have been under the influence of liquor following a religious
meeting on the outskirts of a camp in Mason County.
