13 Feb., 2016 LDN: Mount Pulaski Courthouse celebrates Lincoln's Birthday

A reception featuring coffee, cookies, and hot cider was held at the Mt. Pulaski Courthouse on Friday, Feb. 12, from 12-4 p.m.  Visitors honored the 16th President of the United States, who held our nation together in the 1860’s ... they honored the man who still brings people to our town because he practiced law here on his journey to the White House.

Mt. Pulaski was the second county seat of Logan County, but only had that honor from 1848 to 1855, when the county seat went permanently to the new town of Lincoln, in the center of the county.  Our Mt. Pulaski Courthouse opened as a State Historic Site in 1939. It is managed by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.  The Mt. Pulaski Courthouse Foundation was founded in 2011 to help care for and celebrate the Courthouse.

16 Feb., 2016 LDN: The Mount Pulaski High School Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Team placed second recently in regional competition at Lincoln Land Community College. The team will advance to sectional competition at Illinois College in Jacksonville on March 8.
