The band plays
a mix of country and rock music. Brushfire
has opened for Alan Jackson, upcoming
Nashville duo LoCash Cowboys (who just
released their first single), red dirt Texas
artist Wade Bowen and will be opening for
Lady Antebellum in August in LaSalle, Peru.

The
next Draw 4 Carroll drawing will be
at noon Saturday, June 12, at St. Mary's
Church, Atlanta, during their garage
sale.
St. Mary's Parish, Atlanta, will host a
garage sale Friday, June 11, and
Saturday, June 12, beginning at 7 a.m. both
days. The items that have been brought for
sale so far are stuffed animals, purses,
shoes, floor lamp, books, jewelry, bedding,
backpacks, suitcases and clothing.
Refreshment items will also be sold: hot
dogs, chips, cookies and drinks. Everyone is
invited to come out to St. Mary's Parish
Hall in Atlanta and find some treasures!
Nominations are being sought for the Area
Agency on Aging for Lincolnland's 2010
Dorothy S. Kimball Award for outstanding
accomplishment in the field of aging.
The
Dorothy S. Kimball Award has been
established to honor individuals and
organizations in the counties of Cass,
Christian, Greene, Jersey, Logan, Macoupin,
Mason, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Sangamon
and Scott that work in the field of aging or
on behalf of older adults and family
caregivers. Achievements that could be
recognized include adaptation or revision of
programs or services to meet the current
needs of older adults and their family
members; public education regarding the
services and benefits available to the older
population and services; formal education of
future workers in the field; identification
of an unmet need and working to fill that
need; creativity in service provision to
reach people in need of the service,
advocacy or legislation; outstanding service
to the older population; and community
adaptation to help older adults remain in
their own homes in the community as long as
possible.
The award is named for the late Dorothy
S. Kimball, who served as executive director
of the Area Agency on Aging for over 25
years.
Nominations will be accepted at the Area
Agency on Aging through July 15. To request

Jordan
Cooper, son of Jeff and Julie Cooper of
Mount Pulaski and a member of Troop 122, has
earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
A Court of Honor was held on May 30 in
recognition of Jordan's achievement. The
ceremony was at the chapel at Steenbergen
Cemetery, surrounded by over 100 flags set
out during Memorial Day weekend to
commemorate the men and women buried in that
cemetery who have served in our armed
forces.
Jordan completed his Eagle Scout project
last fall for the Mount Pulaski American
Legion Post 447 by designing and installing
a handrail for the east side of the Legion
building.
Jordan is a 2010 graduate of Mount
Pulaski High School. He is a member of the
FFA. He has earned his State FFA Degree and
competed in many FFA judging competitions.
Jordan is a member of Zion Lutheran Church
in Mount Pulaski.
Jordan started his Scouting career in
1998 and became a Boy Scout in March 2003.
He was elected into the Order of the Arrow
by his peers. He has traveled twice to Cache
Lake, Canada, and has completed two treks to
Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M.
Jordan served as trek leader on his last
trek to Philmont.
Jordan is the grandson of John and Janet
Cherry and Judy Cooper, all of Mount
Pulaski.
Logan
County 4-H will host a Native
American Mini Camp on Friday, June 25,
from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. at Kickapoo Creek
Park in Lincoln. Youth 8-12 years of age are
welcome to attend and join in the morning's
Native American-related activities. Cost for
the mini camp will be $8 per person and
advance registration is required.
Participants should plan to arrive at the
park between 8:45 and 9 a.m. Youth will
participate in making Native American sand
art, a rain stick and a beaded Indian "drum"
as well as creating a snack that morning.
Individuals wishing to register for the
mini camp need to stop in at the Logan
County Extension office, 980 N. Postville
Drive in Lincoln, to obtain registration
materials or can visit the website to access
a registration form at
