Music filled the halls and classrooms Friday evening in Mount Pulaski Grade School, which was host for the Logan County Music Solo and Ensemble Contest. Junior high vocalists and musicians from six area schools competed in the event, which organizers estimate has taken place for about 25 years. Gas pains spread
College sophomore Dan Okrasinski figures he spends an hour delivering pizzas every week just to cover the extra cost of filling his tank as gasoline prices in Illinois continue a four-month climb.

Glass recycling to restart in April
Area residents again will be able to recycle some grass containers starting April 10, according to Mitzi Rohlfs, Logan County Joint Solid Waste Agency coordinator.
