Vincent 'Cap' Ey Send a link to a friend Archived July 1, 2005 LINCOLN -- Vincent "Cap" Ey, 91, of Lincoln died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at 10:30 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. July 9, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery. Mr. Ey retired from Logan County Bank in 1985 as vice president and board member. He had been an operational partner in Ey's Bakery from 1947 to 1968. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was born Jan. 18, 1914, at Mount Pulaski to Charles A. and Louise M. VonDer Heide Ey. He and his wife, Mildred "Bugs," were married Aug. 10, 1947, in Mount Pulaski. She died Sept. 22, 2000. He is survived by three grandchildren, Dr. Steven (and Dalia) Ey of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; Cynthia L. Ey of Geneseo and Kathryn Espirite of Munster, Ind.; one great-grandson, Omar Ey; one sister, Louise Ey of Mount Pulaski; two nephews, Dr. John Ey of Portland, Ore., and Gary Ey of Springfield; and one niece, June A. Reich of Western Springs. He was also preceded in death by one son, Dr. Richard Ey; two brothers, Otto H. Ey and Carl W. Ey; and one sister, Lillian Hutchcraft. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. |
