ELKHART -- Herman R. Bohn, 89, of Elkhart died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at 6:05 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elkhart Christian Church, with Robert Twist officiating.

Burial will be in Carlyle Cemetery, Lake Fork.

Mr. Bohn was a retired farmer and carpenter.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was born July 5, 1916, in rural Cornland to Frank and Florence Raholitz Bohn. He married Meredith "Dot" Peterson in Bowling Green, Mo., on Aug. 24, 1940.

He is survived by his wife, of Elkhart; one daughter, Anita Davis of Elkhart; one son Roger Bohn of Mount Pulaski; one brother, Charles (and Louise) Bohn of Cornland; two sisters, Elizabeth "Babe" Hooper of Rockford and Opal Buttell of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Kelly (and Randy) Bailey of Mount Pulaski, Kim Beggs of Elkhart, Kris Davis of Springfield, Korey Davis of Elkhart, Micah Bohn of Mount Pulaski and Sheena Bohn of Mount Pulaski; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers and a son-in-law, James Davis.

He was a member of Elkhart Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Elkhart Christian Church or Lake Fork Community Center.
