Geraldine
Cherle Rogers, 88, formerly of Mount Pulaski,
Illinois, passed away
Tuesday, January 3, 2006,
in Sun City,
Arizona.
Geraldine was born on Thanksgiving Day,
November 29, 1917, in Joliet, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Almeda Redfearn Wright &
Forrest
William Wright and her husband of sixty-two years, Glenn Melvin Rogers.
She earned degrees from
Joliet
Junior College, the University
of
Illinois,
and a
Masters of Education from Millikin
University in Decatur, Illinois. Geri and
Glenn
lived in Mount Pulaski,
Illinois, for many years, where they raised their family.
Geri taught English at Lincoln
Community
High School
in Lincoln, Illinois, for five
years and served as the High School’s guidance
counselor for twelve years. In 1976,
she was appointed Honorary Admissions Counselor for the U. S. Naval
Academy. Geri and Glenn retired to Mount Ida,
Arkansas
in 1977. She loved traveling, gardening and reading.
Geraldine is survived by her son, Scott Winfield Rogers of Sun City
West, Arizona; daughter, Randel Ann Rogers of Thousand Oaks, California;
granddaughter, Amy Ann Ackerman Kane (husband Daniel), of Erie,
Colorado; grandson, James Hervey Ackerman III (wife Lisa) of Atlanta,
Georgia; great-granddaughters, Kathryn Ackerman and Elizabeth Ackerman of Atlanta, Georgia; sister,
Torrie Wright Baher (husband Bernie), of Avon, Massachusetts; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial was held on
January 8, 2006. In lieu of flowers, you may send memorial donations in Geraldine’s name to your favorite
