MOUNT PULASKI -- Ralph E. Wubben, 84, of Mount Pulaski died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at 5 a.m. at St. John's Hospice North in Springfield. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. Bill Shanle will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery. Mr. Wubben was retired from farming in the Mount Pulaski and Latham area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was on the European front, landed at Normandy during D-Day and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was born Aug. 25, 1921, in rural Mount Pulaski to William Albert and Libbie Sivilia Musick Wubben. He married W. June Luckhart on May 22, 1946, in Hannibal, Mo. She died Jan. 13, 1999. He is survived by one son, Larry (and Judy) Wubben of Williamsville; two sisters, Erma Huston of Mount Pulaski and Agnes Redfairn of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He was an avid fan of auto racing, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Illini.
