Edward Hickey Sr.

[August 07, 2008] Edward Paul Hickey Sr., 92, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at 5:30 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Private family services are scheduled.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.

Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hickey farmed in the Logan County area and later was a prison guard at the old Joliet Prison for 21 years.

He was born Jan. 23, 1916, in Lincoln to James Vincent and Alice Teresa Fitzsimmons Hickey.

He is survived by one son, Edward P. (and Marilyn) Hickey Jr. of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Mary Rose Morehead of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Aaron (and Sara) McCain, Charlie (and Stacy) Hickey, Carol (and Marty) Spear and Kathy (and Kevin) Wilham; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Ellen Thornton of Lincoln.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
