Delmar Rentshler

ROCHESTER
-- Delmar F. Rentshler, 89, died Wednesday, Oct.
7, 2009, at 7:43 a.m. at Wyndcrest Assisted
Living in Rochester.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski, with the Rev. Kevin Treptow
officiating. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. at the
funeral home. |

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery, Mount
Pulaski. Military rites will be conducted
by Mt. Pulaski American Legion Ryman-Fuiten Post
447. Mr. Rentshler was a chemist with U.S.
Rubber Corp. and A.E. Staley in Decatur. He
later became manager of the A.E. Staley
commodities division at the Chicago Board of
Trade. After 30 years with Staley's, he and his
wife retired to the family farm near Rochester
in 1976.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a meteorologist
during World War II.
He was born June 13, 1920, in Mount Pulaski
to Frank and Gladys Oglesby Rentshler. He
married Ethel Juanita Vail in Mount Pulaski on
June 2, 1943. She preceded him in death on May
11, 2009.
He is survived by one son, Alan (and Janet)
Rentshler of Rochester.
He was also preceded in death by one son,
Roger Rentshler.
He was a member of Mount Pulaski United
Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the U of
I Alumni Association and American Legion Post
447 of Mount Pulaski. |
He grew up on a farm near Mount Pulaski and
graduated from Mount Pulaski High School. He
earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the
University of Illinois in Urbana.
