-- Kenneth M. Holmes, 82, of Mount
Pulaski died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at
9:52 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center
in Springfield.

Mt. Pulaski: Kenneth M. Holmes,
82, of Mt. Pulaski died at 9:52 P.M.
Sunday May 6th at Memorial Medical
Center in Springfield.
Kenny was born on May 9, 1929 in
Mt. Pulaski, IL to Benjamin Franklin
and Selma Grathwohl Holmes. He
married Reva Bristow on August 15,
1954 in Mt. Pulaski. She preceded
him in death on April 12, 2007.
He is survived by two sons, Marty
Holmes of Lincoln and Kevin (Tammy)
Holmes of Bloomington, IL, one
daughter Karen M. Heaten of
Farmersville, IL, one brother
Charles (Betty) Holmes of Mt.
Pulaski, one sister Dorothy
(Richard) Palmer of Wentzville, MO,
and four granddaughters, Amy
Fitzsimmons, Alexandria Holmes,
Samantha Holmes and Cecilia Holmes.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, parents, one brother, Bob
Holmes, one sister, Mary Thompson
and son in law, Shane Heaton.

Kenny
was a self employed carpenter and
brick layer with Holmes
Construction. He served in the
United States Army from January of
1951 to January of 1953 during the
Korean War where he received the
Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze
Service Stars and the United Nations
Service Medal. He was a lifetime
member of The Mt. Pulaski VFW Post
#777 and he was a member of the
American Legion Post #447 for 34
years.
Funeral services will be held at
10:30 A.M. on Friday May 11, 2012 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Mt. Pulaski with Mark Weber
officiating. Visitation will be from
4:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at
the funeral home. Burial will be at
Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski
where full military rites will be
accorded. Memorials may be made to
the VFW Post #777 or the American
Legion Post #447. |
