Lawrence Montgomery
Lawrence O. Montgomery, 90, of Mount
Pulaski died Thursday (March 18, 2004) at 11:45 a.m. at Vonderlieth
Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m.
Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
Masonic rites will follow at 4 p.m.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at the funeral home, with Bill Shanle and John Robertson
officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski
Cemetery.
Mr. Montgomery retired from Sears in
1976 after 31 years of employment with the company. He was a former
mayor of Mount Pulaski.
He was born Sept. 28, 1913, in rural
Sparta to James K. and Anna Mary Stewart Montgomery. He married Ruby
Ellen Rice on Oct. 13, 1935, in Urbana.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Lee
(and Betty) Montgomery of Chestnut and Roy Keith (and Mary Ann)
Montgomery of Decatur; one daughter, Sharon Elaine (and P.D.)
Highsmith of Oblong; six grandchildren, Brian (and Kathy) Highsmith
of Lindsay, Okla., Julie (and Bill) Stoll of Mount Pulaski, Jim (and
Erica) Montgomery of Mount Pulaski, Lori (and Greg) Brice of Plano,
Texas, Jon (and Teresa) Montgomery of Mount Pulaski and Keith (and
Michelle) Montgomery of Decatur; and 13 grandchildren and five
stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two
sisters.
He was a member of Mount Pulaski
Christian Church, Lions Club, Rotary, IOOF Lodge 454, Masonic Lodge
87, Mount Pulaski Chapter 121, Commandery 39, Ansar Shrine of
Springfield and Logan County Shrine Club.

William 'Bill' Eskew
William "Bill" Eskew, 70, of Cornland died
Wednesday (March 17, 2004) at 3:10 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in
Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Bill Shanle
officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski
Cemetery.
Mr. Eskew was a truck driver for Donley
Trucking in Williamsville before he retired.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Carlinville to
William and Ruby Reed Eskew. He married Norma Points on Aug. 25,
1953, in Carlinville.
He is survived by his wife, of Cornland; five
sons, Bill (and Nancy) Eskew of Cornland, Paul (and Rena) Eskew of
Mechanicsburg, Merle (and Kim) Eskew of Springfield, Tom Eskew of
Springfield, and David (and Melanie) Eskew of Dawson; two daughters,
Connie (and Virgil) Booker of White Hall and Beth (and Mark) Patton
of Mechanicsburg; 14 grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and
three sisters.

Dorothy Bradley
Dorothy Ada Bradley, 84, formerly of
Greenview, died Wednesday (March 17, 2004) at 1:13 p.m. at Clark
Lindsey Village in Urbana.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday
at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.
Her burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Willow
Brook Cemetery, Fisher. Graveside military rites will be
conducted.
Mrs. Bradley held various jobs, including
switchboard operation and real estate sales.
She was a technical sergeant in the Women's
Army Corps from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. She served in the
8th Air Force, 3rd Bomb Division in England from June 1943 to
October 1945.
She was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Condit
Township, Champaign County, to Cecil Clark and Ethel Lucy Ward
Drennan. She married Ward T. Meneely on Nov. 18, 1945, in Fisher,
and he died June 1, 1954. She married Lane Bradley on Feb. 1, 1957,
in Mason City.
She is survived by her second husband, of
Urbana; one sister, Helen Stutzman of Urbana; eight nieces; and two
nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters
and two brothers.
She was a member of Greenview United Church,
Greenview AMVETS Post 179, an active member of the Democratic Party
and a charter member of the Women in Military Service for America
Memorial in Washington, D.C.
She was an avid Cubs fan and loved bowling,
golfing and Boston terriers.
