LINCOLN
-- Paul Edwin Abraham Boughan, 86, of Lincoln
died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at 3:15 a.m. at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
His
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Dan
Wissmann officiating. Visitation will be from 9
to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in Union Cemetery.
Mr.
Boughan retired in 1980 from Lincoln Container
Corp., where he worked as a quality assurance
tester.
He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He
was born April 3, 1918, in Lincoln to Floyd and
Freida Hubner Boughan. He married Dorothy Flick
on Nov. 10, 1940, in Lincoln.
He
is survived by his wife; three daughters,
Marilyn (and Hershel) Beavers of Lincoln,
Jacquelyn (and Daniel) Deffenbaugh of Lincoln
and Barbara Flynn of Austin, Texas; five
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mary
Beverman of Lincoln and Annabelle Rademaker of
Florida.
He
was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was
also a member of Disabled American Veterans and
served as chaplain for the group.
Memorials
may be made to the Sunday school of Immanuel
Lutheran Church.

MASON
CITY -- Jesse "Jack" Laverne Dodson,
80, of Mason City died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004,
at 6:38 p.m. at his home.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hurley
Funeral Home. His funeral will be at 11 a.m.
Friday at the funeral home, with Dustin Fulton
officiating.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr.
Dodson worked at Caterpillar for 10 years.
He
was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army
Infantry, Blackhawk Division.
He
was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Logan County to Jesse
James and Ella Huffman Dodson. He married Betty
Tomlinson on Feb. 5, 1948, in Havana. She
preceded him in death. He married Betty Humbird
in 1975.
Surviving
family members are three sons, John (and wife
Cindy) Dodson of Mason City, Jesse (and wife
Julie) Dodson of San Jose and Gerald Allen (and
wife Marcia) Dodson of Peoria; one daughter,
Betty Connelly of Springfield; 10 grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma
Jean (and husband Howard) Thompson of Mason
City.
He
was also preceded in death by two brothers,
Claude and Herschel.
He
was a member of the Assembly of God in Mason
City.
Memorial

Department.

MOUNT
PULASKI -- Ethel M. Ryan, 85, of Mount Pulaski
died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at 6:50 p.m. at
St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.
Her
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First
Christian Church of Mount Pulaski, with John
Robertson officiating. Visitation will be one
hour before the service.
Burial
will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Funeral Home of Mount Pulaski is handling
arrangements.
Mrs.
Ryan was a homemaker for her family.
She
was born April 9, 1919, at Latham to Emil and
June Thompson Wachter. She married Harold
Orville Ryan at Latham on Nov. 14, 1936. He died
in 1959.
She
is survived by two daughters, Carol M. Meyer and
Jo Anne Ryan, both of Winter Haven, Fla.; 12
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Wannetta Beadleston of Mount Pulaski.
She
was also preceded in death in two sons, Robert
H. Ryan and John Ryan.
She
was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church,
Rebecca Circle, Royal Neighbors of America and
Lincoln Moose Lodge 1441.

may be made to Mount Pulaski Ambulance or
Hospice Care of Illinois.

-- Carolyn J. Tappendorf, 62, of Lincoln died
Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at 7:46 a.m. at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Miss
Tappendorf donated her body to the Anatomical
Gift Association of Illinois.
A
memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln,
with Edward McMinn officiating.
Miss
Tappendorf retired in 1986 from Lincoln
Developmental Center, where she was a
technician.
She
was born May 14, 1942, in Decatur to Leonard L.
and Emma Marie Brannan Tappendorf.
She
is survived by three brothers, Lyle (and Teresa)
Tappendorf of Decatur, Kenneth (and Mary)
Tappendorf of Lincoln and Jimmy Ray Tappendorf
of Shelbyville.
She
was preceded in death by her parents.
She
was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

-- Jesse E. Mosier, 48, of Lincoln died Sunday,
Sept. 19, 2004, at 8:43 p.m. at McLean County
Nursing Home, Normal.
His
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dan Wissmann
officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11
a.m. at the church.
Burial
will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mr.
Mosier was a farm laborer and worked for George
Leverton Kar Remarketing.
He
was born May 23, 1956, in Lincoln to John T. and
Patricia E. Buchanan Mosier. He married Deborah
Lank. Later he married Beth Stephens on Aug. 12,
1989, in Lincoln.
He
is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; his father,
of Lincoln; one son, John F. (and Amanda) Mosier
of Vincennes, Ind.; one grandson, Isaac Jesse
Mosier of Vincennes, Ind.; one granddaughter,
Gwendolyn Rose Warf of Lafayette, Ind.; three
stepdaughters, Sarah (and Thomas) Comerford of
Colfax, Ind., Katie Grove of Lincoln and
Stephanie Grove of Lincoln; one sister, Rhonda
(and Michael) Donovan of Normal; and three
brothers, Charles (and Sheree) Mosier of
Bloomington, Michael (and Donna) Mosier of
Lawrenceville and Russell (and Tammie) Mosier of
Mount Pulaski.
He
was preceded in death by his mother, who died
June 21, 2001; his first wife, who died Oct. 18,
2000; and his paternal and maternal
grandparents.
He
was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Logan
County Sheriff's Mounted Police, Logan County
Auxiliary Police, Logan County ESDA Horse Search
and Rescue Team, Northern Illinois Cutting Horse
Association, Mid-State Cutting Horse Association
and National Cutting Horse Association. He won
the 2004 National Cutting Horse Association
rider cutting.

-- Mary Ella Alvey, 88, formerly of Lincoln,
died Aug. 27, 2004, at the Dammert Center in
Belleville.
A
memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday,
Sept. 25, at Trinity Episcopal Church in
Lincoln, with Father James Cravens officiating.
Burial
will be in Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta.
Mrs.
Alvey was a schoolteacher.
She
was born Oct. 29, 1915, at Genoa to Carl and
Jennette Chestnut Bevan. She married Thomas W.
Alvey on Jan. 7, 1939. He preceded her in death.
She
is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Alvey Jr., of
Belleville and Bevan B. Alvey of Lincoln, Neb.;
one daughter, Jennette Alvey Simkins of
Belleville; eight grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
She
was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church,
Daughters of the King, PEO and Daughters of the
American Revolution.
Memorials
