       Williamsville scored 3 times in the bottom of the sixth to pulled ahead for good as they defeated Mt. Pulaski 5-4.  Williamsville scored the first run of game in the bottom of the first, but Mt. Pulaski score a pair in the 3rd to go ahead 2-1.  Alex Urbas tied the game in the 3rd with a solo home run to right, but Jeff Tobias erased that tie with a home run of his own the next inning.  Mt. Pulaski added another run in the fourth to make it a 4-2 game.  It stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth when Williamsville scored a run on a fielder's choice to make the score 4-3.  Then one out later, Charlie Jouett drilled a 2 run Home Run to put the Bullets ahead for good.  Andrew Veach pick up the win in relief of David Miller while Collin Brennan was credited with the save.  John Foley pitched the complete game for Mt. Pulaski.  The top hitter for the Hilltoppers, Chase Lowery - catcher - left the game in the 3rd inning with a dislocated left thumb.

Mount Pulaski (25-6-1)  9 
Jeff Tobias produced the game-winning rbi in bottom of seventh, doubling in Chase Lowery, who led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Korey Letterle.  Lowery had two hits and two rbi's.  John Foley was the winning pitcher, relieving starter Josh Blaum in the top of the 6th.  Dan Gleason recorded a 2-run homer in the 1st inning, with 3 rbi's for the game.  Plains had a big game from Nick Beard, pitcher & 1st baseman, with 2 home runs and 4 rbi's.  Plains tied it with an un-earned run in the top of the 6th against Foley.  But Foley retired the Cardinals in order in the top of the 7th inning.  Both teams combined for 20 hits, 10 walks, 3 hit batsmen, with only 2 errors.  The Hilltoppers led 8-4 after 4 innings in this "seesaw" encounter.  This was "a State Tournament type of game".

A well pitched complete game by both Ben Reeser (U-High)and Josh Blaum (Mt. Pulaski).  The game went to extra innings after U-High's Josh Cox lead-off the bottom of the 7th with a triple, which forced Mt. Pulaski to intentionally walk the next two batters.  Blaum then got the next batter to ground out 1-2 and then struck out the next two batters.   Josh Blaum then helped himself by driving in the winning run with a triple in the top of the 8th to make the score, 3-2.   Blaum held the Pioneers in check in the bottom of the 8th to allow the Hilltoppers to reach the sectional championship in back-to-back years.   Mt. Pulaski goes up against Williamsville, a 8-7 comeback semi-final sectional winner over Olympia.  This sectional championship match-up will be this Saturday in Riverton at 10:00 am.
