The
committee in charge of the Soap Box Derby is trying to generate
additional interest in the derby so we can see more kids get the
opportunity to enjoy this Mt. Pulaski Tradition. We are looking for kids
ages 7 yrs old and up that would be interested in getting involved in
the derby by either racing a car for someone whom already owns a car or
by purchasing a car from an owner who no longer has a racer to use it.
We are trying to get a minimum of 20 cars signed up by Monday
August 28th for the Fall Derby to make sure we have enough
cars to facilitate a race.
The Fall Derby is tentatively scheduled for Saturday September 9th.
If we are unable to generate enough interest from the kids and from
additional adult volunteers, we may not be able to have a 2006 Fall Derby and will have to
reevaluate the potential for future derbies.
In summary: If
you have an interest in participating in the 2006 Fall Festival Soap Box
Derby, either as a racer or as an adult volunteer, we need to hear from
you by Monday August 28th by either calling 217-792-3365 or
