Free Services by the God Squad
Dear Elkhart and Mt. Pulaski Residents,
The Youth Group of St. Patrick's Church at Elkhart and St. Thomas Church at Mt. Pulaski is
pleased to announce the formation of the "GOD SQUAD". The "GOD SQUAD" will be
offering their services
free of charge to area residents who need help with home and yardrepair/upkeep as an ongoing service project to our community. This group will serve as a
yearlong extension of the activities that are done during the summer Catholic Heart Work
Camp, with services being provided to our own friends and neighbors who are in need.
There is no eligibility requirement or religious affiliation necessary to receive service,
however, due to the numerous time commitments of our youth, there is no guarantee the
services will be able to be provided to everyone who completes an application. They will
certainly make an effort to complete as many projects as possible.
An application for consideration for a visit by the "GOD SQUAD" is on the next page.
If you are in
need of services, please complete the application and return it to St. Patrick's Churchat PO Box 19, Elkhart, Illinois 62634. Please mark any and all projects you would like to have
completed. Please elaborate as to the extent of the project. (i.e., I need my kitchen painted
vs. I need painting done.) Keep in mind, that the homeowner must provide building materials
or paint required for any project. Simple tools such as screwdrivers, rakes, hammers,
scrapers, will be provided by the youth.
The youth will only be allowed to complete projects within their knowledge and capability;
therefore, any plumbing or electrical work will not be done. Some simple building projects will be
considered with adult supervision. Outdoor jobs that require completion before winter will be
considered first. Not all requested projects may be able to be completed in order to provide as
many residents as possible with service. Therefore, where completing the application, please keep
in mind, the projects that most urgently need to be done.
All applications received will be considered, and you may be contacted if there are questions
about your application. When the "GOD SQUAD" prepares to come to your home, you will
be contacted by phone and the arrangements made for an agreeable time and what projects
can be completed during that time. As a general rule, they will be working on the weekends.
You will be given as much notice as possible, so that if you need to purchase any materials,
that can be done prior to their arrival.
If you have any questions, please contact the project coordinator, Nancy Davis at
217-947-2706.
