Unfortunately, it is necessary to extend the Boil Order.

The Lab report indicated that 1 sample out of 6 taken, was not satisfactory.  Therefore, we must collect another set of samples.

These samples will be collected on Sunday evening and Monday morning.

The water samples will then be hand delivered to the Lab Monday morning, and the results of those samples will be available Tuesday morning.  If all of those samples are satisfactory, then the boil order will be lifted Tuesday morning.  However, all residents should continue to boil their water until notified by the City of Mt. Pulaski.

The City of Mt. Pulaski will deliver bottled water to all of the schools within Mt. Pulaski and to the Vonderlieth Nursing Home until the Boil Order is lifted.

If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at 792-3222.

The repair to the water System was completed as of 4:00 Am this morning.  The problem was caused by an Electrical Contractor Boring Crew that was installing an underground electric service from Country Place to new power poles on the west side of Highway 121.  The Contractor Did Not acquire a JULIE NUMBER as required by State Law.  The Julie system notifies us in the event that a contractor is doing work in and around Mt. Pulaski, which gives us adequate time to locate our utilities so that a contractor will not damage them.  This was not done - so the contractor has to pay us for the Manpower, Loss of Water, and equipment used to make the repair.  Although we will fully recover the cost of this incident - the inconvenience forced upon the residents by this incident is very troubling.

This contractor has been working in the Country Place Subdivision for quite some time and was well aware of the JULIE LAW, and had been abiding by it.  Why they decided not to follow the LAW in this case is unknown at this time.

Currently, the entire town is under a boil order.  We have collected the necessary water samples, and those samples have been hand delivered to the Lab for analysis.  We will get the results of the tests Saturday afternoon.  If the results come back "clean"  - then the Boil Order can be lifted.  If the results are not satisfactory - then we will have to re-sample and wait for test results to come back on Tuesday.

Another E-Mail will be sent some time Saturday Afternoon with the test results - and an update on the status of the boil order.
