Mt. Pulaski has busy day with good food and garage
sales
July 5, 2012, BY
Phil Bertoni, The Fourth of July saw Mt.
Pulaski as a great place to find a hidden treasure
as well as a great meal. The VFW had nearly 300
diners take advantage of the organization's chicken
dinners. The event's proceeds will help their town's
overseas-duty veteran's organization (Veterans of
Foreign Wars).
Recently retired WUIS Classics Music Director Karl
Scroggin and his friends were there, as always, to
support the cause. Karl's brother, Michael Scroggin,
made the supreme sacrifice in Vietnam in the late
1960's.
The town was full of out-of-towners seeking those
great treasures but local residents eagerly joined
in the hunt. Boy Scout Troop 122 offered two
locations for their BBQ Porkchop sandwiches to help
keep the treasure-hunt cruisers fed.
